Member Spotlight
Tulsa County Bar Foundation
The June NCBF Member Spotlight shines on the Tulsa County Bar Foundation (TCBF) of Oklahoma. Through its educational and charitable efforts, the Foundation is continuing to expand its role of keeping the legal system accessible. The Foundation informs citizens concerning their rights by providing seminars and education on the role of the judicial system and the use of alternative forms of dispute resolution as a means to settle and resolve their disputes.
Annual Law Week
The Foundation sponsors and promotes the annual Law Week, its most visible public event. Activities include a law fair, court tours, mock trials, school poster contest, and speakers for school and civic groups. The Ask-A-Lawyer and Lawyer in the Library programs allow the public access to a lawyer for answers to legal questions without legal expense.
Law Student Scholarships
TCBF is authorized to fund law school scholarships of up to $2,500 per individual per year. The scholarships are intended for the benefit of law students in or from Tulsa County who are accepted to an ABA-accredited law school. The scholarships are offered and administered without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender or disability.
Annual Charity Golf Tournament
The Foundation holds one major golf tournament fundraiser each year that promotes fellowship and networking among the legal professional community, while supporting predetermined, approved charities. Beneficiaries include Disabled American Veterans, Tulsa Lawyers for Children, South Tulsa Community House, and Community Outreach programs of the Tulsa County Bar.
Community Outreach
The TCBF Community Outreach Committee provides volunteer lawyers to charitable or civic organizations and supports community projects including Habitat for Humanity and The Day Center for the Homeless. Annual service projects include “Santa Brings a Law Suit,” a professional clothing drive, and the “Welcome Home Project,” a household item drive benefiting the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless.
Staff and Leadership
The Foundation is made up of four officers and eight Board of Trustees.
